12pm: Big Band Bash
Bournemouth’s Swing Unlimited stable produce a number of different bands which deliver big band swing with great pizzazz. This toe-tapping set promises to get the afternoon off to a cracking start with a raft of big band favourites brought bang up to date.
The Sound of Blue Note features some of the most accomplished jazz musicians in the south west coming together to recreate the legendary sounds of the Blue Note Record label. Classy, cool, smooth jazz performed to pedigree standards.
2pm: La Vie en Rose
La Vie en Rose is an Exeter based group of musicians with backgrounds in classical music, traditional jazz, rock, blues, country, ragtime and roots but with a shared passion for gypsy jazz and hot swing.
Saxminster is an Axminster-based Saxophone choir comprised of 18 local saxophonists directed by Alison Davies, a well known and respected professional saxophonist and teacher. Expect an eclectic mix of music from Glen Miller to trad jazz.
4pm: Hot Java
With their funky grooves and jazzy chops, and Grace Gillan’s earthy vocals, Hot Java deliver everything from jazz standards to re-harmonised 1980s pop for a hot set of up-tempo soul.
