The Jive Aces with Amy Baker

The UK’s No 1 swing and jive group, The Jive Aces, are known for their high-energy music and spectacular stage show. They have an international reputation, having played in 40 countries, performed at literally hundreds of festivals worldwide, plus toured the USA.  This swinging sextet average 300 shows a year and played to capacity crowds at the Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury Festival, London Olympics and even for the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

The Jive Aces have worked with many other top performers including Chuck Berry, Isaac Hayes, Van Morrison and the Count Basie Orchestra. They mix fresh arrangements of swing/jive and R&B classics with their own swinging originals. With their high-energy music, canary-yellow stage suits and witty stage show, they’ll quickly get you on your feet or dancing in your seat.

The Jive Aces lineup includes Ian Clarkson (vocals and trumpet); Ken Smith (double bass); Vince Hurley (piano); Peter Howell (drums); John Fordham (saxophone); Alex Douglas (trombone).

Amy Baker sings jazz and swing classics in a vintage style all her own. She’s performed at Ronnie Scott’s, Glastonbury and The Edinburgh Fringe and now regularly joins The Jive Aces on stage to add feminine glamour to the evening. With her vintage looks and soulful vocals she adds extra vroom vroom vroom to the lads in yellow.WE SAY:

“As the opening show of the weekend, this’ll be one of those rip-roaring nights of musical mayhem. If you liked the King Pleasure & the Biscuit Boys last year, you’re going to LOVE the Jive Aces!”
